Studio Policies:

I ask that all students and parents understand and agree to the studio policies listed here.

I hope you will have as much fun with the violin as I do!

I teach at Eden Prairie High School and also out my home in Plymouth. I offer 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons. Weekly lessons are preferred and suggested but I will offer bi-weekly lessons as the studio space allows. The 30 minute lessons are reserved for students aged 12 and younger. Older students may request the 30 minute slots as space allows.

Tuition:

30 minute private lessons are $40.00/lesson

45 minute private lessons are $50.00/lesson

60 minute private lessons are $60.00/lesson

Payments:

Tuition payments should be made monthly, and in advance of each month.  Payments can be made via check or cash.

In effect, you are agreeing to a “month-to-month” commitment for lessons.

Late Fees:

A $5.00 late fee will be charged for all tuition payments made after the first lesson of the month. Please keep this is mind!

Make-ups/Cancellations:

If you need to cancel a lesson please notify me at least 24 hours in advance via telephone or e-mail, both found on my contact page. You will be charged full tuition for any lesson that is missed without the proper notification. Make-up lessons will not be offered unless the 24 hour notice is given.  Make-up lessons are offered only when studio space is available.  Tuition credits will be given for my absences only.

Practice Guidelines:

Playing the violin is a commitment of time and money and can be much fun with the right approach!  I encourage students to practice in a positive environment.  I expect all students to treat lessons with maturity and a good attitude. Parental involvement is essential for all young students, and a requirement for students aged eight and younger. To help understand the dedication needed to play the violin, I have developed this set of minimum practice guidelines:

Grades K-2nd

20 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Practice with parental supervision.

Grades 3-5

30 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Independent and/or supervised practice.

Grades 6-8

30-45 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Independent practice.

Grades 9-12

45-60 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Independent practice.

Ages 18+ (amateur/hobby)

45-60 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Independent practice.

Ages 18+ (college-bound/professional)

2-4 hours per day, 7 days a week. Independent practice.

I understand “life gets busy” and it is hard to maintain these minimum guidelines, but I do require that students set aside violin time each week. Even if you only have a few minutes to spare, improvement will be quickly noticed with efficient and consistent practice!

Other Expectations:

Please come to each lesson with all materials assigned from the previous week. Make sure hands are clean and fingernails are trim. Also, I will help maintain a digital lesson notebook that will help all of us (student/teacher/parent) keep track of weekly assignments and progress.
